Saw Julian Bliss and the Carducci Quartet on Sunday

Really enjoyed the concert - Weber and Brahm's clarinet quintets as well as a Beethoven quartet - also the encore was good fun (Gumboots).

Beautiful sound and virtuosity by both Julian and the Quartet. I know you pop up here occasionally Julian - could I ask what clarinet were you playing that night? (Saffron Walden Hall). You don't have to answer that but I'd just like to say how much DH and I enjoyed the concert.

Might you have any recordings of that concert?

Reese Oller

Clarinet student (soon to be a performance major in college)

I can play bass clarinet, Eb clarinet, BBb contra, alto saxophone, bassoon at a decent level, and flute in a pinch.

There were various CDs for sale at the concert - I remember a Mozart and Weber C Quintet one, as well as Gumboots. Julian must have many recordings out there!

I thought it might be a Backun - but maybe also Buffet BCXXI. The keys were all gold plated though, which made me think of a Backun.

He mentioned it on his instagram account:

Might be a Buffet Devine. Looks and sounds very nice. But what did you expect from Julian...

Hi Elizabeth
Hope you are well! Thank you very much for coming to the concert and for your kind words!

As some others have mentioned, I was playing my new Buffet Divine!

Thanks
Julian

Hi Julian!

Thanks very much for confirming it was a Buffet Divine. The concert was a real treat - and my husband got to hear what a clarinet should sound like (instead of my playing :-))
