Last word on single/double lip embouchure?
Author: Beth

Chalk up one for us double lippers. Saw an oral surgeon today (TMJ acting up) - we determined my latest flare-up is due, in great part, to my switch from double lip to single lip. (Try switching to make my teacher happy.) So it's back to double lip for me, yeah! I Don't think eating those "nasty" necco heart candies had anything to do with it. LOL : )

Why the sarcasm, Mark? Do you have a problem with people using double lip?

Hmm...reed on top, I've only read about that. I could join up with violist in our local strings enesmble who plays his viola on his knee. Who saids archaic ways don't work..(hear my bones creaking....squeek, squeek, squeek and that's not my clarinet!)

Reed on top was, I believe, quite common in the Italian school.Without squeeking.
