The version of the Clarinet Concerto that he plays in this film seemed quite different from the one on the CD. Or am I imagining it?

Not exactly on target but the new film "De-Lovely" about Cole Porter has an interesting rendition of "Begin The Beguine" in it by Diane Krall.
